An analysis of calls to Tele-Manas, India's toll-free mental health helpline, shows that many people call about sleep problems.

Since its launch in October 2022, Tele-Manas has received over 350,000 calls.

A government report released on Thursday highlights the types of complaints.

The main issues are sleep disturbances (14%), mood sadness (14%), stress (11%), and anxiety (9%). Less than 3% of calls were about suicide.

Most callers are male (56%) and aged 18 to 45 (72%).

For example, a 20-year-old female student sought help for sleep issues affecting her life.

She was living in a hostel and found her sleep disrupted by too much phone and laptop use.

The report shows that most complaints to Tele-Manas are related to common mental health disorders.
